Third Project Management Board meeting

Webex / Online - 30 April 2020

The Third Project Management Board meeting was planned in Santiago, Chile, on 31 March 2020 at the auspices of FIDAE 2020.

However, in the light of the Coronavirus COVID-19 crisis, the meeting was rescheduled and held through a webex / online on 30 April 2020.

Representatives from Latin American and Caribbean countries as well as the regional organizations that are part of the project attended the webex together with the EU LAC APP project team of EASA. The webex was also attended by Ms Maria Rosa Sabbatelli, Head of Regional Team-Foreign Policy Instrument (FPI) Americas and her team, and Mr Luc Tytgat, EASA Strategy and Safety Management Director.

Mr Luc Tytgat, Strategy and Safety Management Director of EASA, opened the meeting, welcomed the numerous participation of the project stakeholders and said “The project and partners have delivered sustainable results during the two years of implementation. In the current unprecedented situation for the entire aviation sector, the aim will be to continue providing support to achieve the established objectives and to include activities for overcoming the new challenges recently identified due to the COVID-19 outbreak. This will require a global approach and involvement from all partners and institutions not limited to aviation. ”

Ms Maria Rosa Sabbatelli, Head of Regional Team-Foreign Policy Instrument (FPI) Americas emphasized the importance of being prepared for all the challenges and of agreeing on appropriate actions with partners and the industry. Ms Sabbatelli also mentioned: ”The organisation of the Project Management Board under these special circumstances demonstrates the commitment of all partners to overcome the current crisis and to continue working towards a closer cooperation between both sides of the Atlantic”.

The first part of the meeting reviewed the activities carried out and the fulfillment of objectives in 2019. The second part dealt with future activities and possible actions for 2020.
