Regional workshop on SBAS for stakeholders across the LATAM region

Lima, Peru - 21-22 April 2025

The regional workshop on “Satellite-Based Augmentation Systems (SBAS) for stakeholders across the Latin American (LATAM) region" is addressed to ATM/ANS managers, inspectors and experts of the civil aviation authorities, Air Navigation Service Providers, Airlines, Experts from the Ministry of Transport and Ministry of Agriculture of your country, Maritime and Road Transport Authorities, and other involved stakeholders you consider relevant for the discussion.

The workshop aims to address a wide range of critical topics, including:

- A comprehensive review of previous activities undertaken in the LAC region related to Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS) and SBAS.

- An overview of key elements and fields of applicability for SBAS implementation.

- A detailed cost/benefit analysis of SBAS, emphasizing its economic and operational advantages.

- An examination of SBAS implementation experiences in Europe, Africa, and Korea, exploring processes, challenges, solutions, funding opportunities, and strategic roadmaps.

- A discussion on SBAS implementation specific to the Latin America and Caribbean region, including insights into ionospheric challenges and practical proposals for establishing a real SBAS testbed in a LAC country.

The objective of the workshop is to present the recent SBAS feasibility study and cost/benefit analysis developed under the project and to share experience and best practices from other regions. It represents a pivotal opportunity for knowledge sharing, networking, and collaboration among stakeholders not only from the aviation field, dedicated to advancing SBAS technologies and applications.
